The most important part of our story is that it has always been—and continues to be—guided by the Lord. It wasn’t by chance that we ended up in the same small group, where a friendship grew out of our faith and love for our community. While there are plenty of sweet moments along the way, our hope is that as you read this, you see our story as we do: a true gift from God, not something we could have created on our own. We met at small group through our church in the fall of 2023 during Mia’s first semester of law school at Iowa. For a while, we were just friends. Then, at the start of summer 2024, we began running into each other at a coffee shop. At first it felt like a coincidence, but before long we both knew the truth: we were showing up hoping the other would be there too. We’d sit and talk about books, our faith, and laugh. In the fall of 2024, Jacob asked Mia out on a date. From that first “yes,” countless sweet moments followed as we cooked meals, went on ice cream runs, read Narnia together, took long walks, and spent hours at our favorite coffee shop with books in hand. In the middle of all the laughter, shared stories, and quiet moments, it became clear that the Lord was drawing us closer and closer. What began as simple dates soon grew into the deep joy of knowing we wanted to spend forever with each other.
