We're Finally Getting Married!

We were both in GE (the equivalent of advanced placement classes for grade school). We were on a field trip with only GE students in the 2nd/3rd grade and we were in the lunch line together. That’s when my crush started :) (I still remember choosing the chicken rings because that’s what Devan chose!)

We were close friends. We would text all the time outside of school. I used to tease him and call him “pansy” all the time just so he would smile and react! (He pretended to hate it, but secretly loved it!) He used to ask his parents to eat at the restaurants that I was a waitress at just so he could see me!

Devan and I were great friends, texting often. I left the country on a trip with my mother where I didn’t have cell service. When we came back to the U.S. Devan told me he realized when he couldn't text me that he missed me gobs and I was the only one he wanted to text and be around. That’s when he realized he wanted to be more than just friends. 💗 We started hanging out more and on June 22nd, 2009 he asked me to be his girlfriend!

We were on a family trip to visit the gorgeous historical city of Savannah, Georgia. We had known before the traveling that we wanted to visit the Avenue of Oaks, a gorgeous long gravel lane lined with giant oak trees, for family pictures. We were all taking seperate family pictures and when it was Devan and I’s turn, he got down on one knee! He said (shakily and nervous with tears in his eyes!), “I love you so much and want to spend forever with you by my side, will you marry me?” Of course I said yes! He then attempted to put the ring on the wrong hand. We were both shaking and laughing a ridiculous amount! 😹 I did NOT pick out the ring or help in any way. We had never ring shopped together. I had no idea that he even had a ring because he didn’t have the ring box! He had no help and designed the ring himself. He did so well and it’s gorgeous 💗💍

The year we get married, 2019, we will have been together for 10 years! Its been the best ten years together full of love, laughter, and adventure! We have traveled many places together (Devan's first time out of the country!), purchased a home, adopted two pets, purchased new vehicles, moved states and met tons of lovely people from all over! We feel so blessed to have each other and can't wait to spend forever together!
