FAQs

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Our wedding will be semi-formal, and we’d love for our guests to embrace a winter elegance theme. Ladies: Floor-length gowns or formal dresses in dark, rich colors such as burgundy, emerald green, navy blue, or deep plum are encouraged. Gentlemen: Tuxedos or suits are preferred—feel free to coordinate with the seasonal color palette! Footwear: The venue is a mix between outdoor and indoor. We recommend choosing comfortable, weather-appropriate shoes. Outerwear: Since it’s a winter wedding, we suggest bringing a stylish coat or wrap to stay warm while still looking fabulous. Below is a breakdown of the weekend: Thursday: Casual Friday: Cocktail Attire Saturday: Semi-Formal; Suits and floor length pieces Sunday: Casual

Question

Am I expected to be there from Thursday to Sunday?

Answer

While we would love for you to spend the whole weekend with us to celebrate, we understand that some schedules do not allow that. All we ask is that you please RSVP to the events you plan to attend.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by October 15th.

Question

What is the weather?

Answer

The temperature will be between high 40's and low 60's. Pack layers.

Question

Where will I be staying?

Answer

We have picked a venue that accommodates all of our guests. You will either be in a cottage or a yurt depending on your party size. We will be handling the assignments of where everyone will be staying. Brown Mountain will contact you about 30 days prior to finalize your booking and give you information on your lodging. All cabins and yurts are priced between $255-$295/night.

Question

What type of lodging is available?

Answer

Brown Mountain Beach Resort has several cottages and yurts. They all have their own bathrooms and kitchenettes. They also all have their own private deck with a hot tub. Bring your bathing suits!

Question

What will I be doing outside of wedding events?

Answer

Please bring your athletic wear and swimsuits. While our wedding is in December, the area does stay relatively warm for the winter. There are tons or hiking trails and outdoor activities throughout the resort. Please feel free to explore the grounds or go hang out with the farm animals. Also, we are 30 minutes outside the cute town of Morganton and an hour outside of Asheville, if you feel like a drive.

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

Yes! The venue has plenty of family friendly activities on site. They also offer childcare if you would like to do an activity on your own. Please call the resort for more information. Children are allowed at the ceremony and the reception.

Question

Is there parking?

Answer

Yes, there is plenty of parking in front of each lodging.
