Shane and I met our Sophomore year at Hawthorne High School and quickly became friends. Our friendship grew throughout high school, but after graduation we both left Hawthorne for college. I moved to Allentown, PA and he moved to Grand Rapids, MI. After attending Calvin College for a year, Shane moved back to Philadelphia to attend the University of the Arts, and we reconnected. That's when our friendship developed in to a relationship. We fell in love in Philadelphia, and we cannot wait for you to join us here for our wedding!
Shane and I usually host Thanksgiving for my family. We've been doing it for years, even in our teeny tiny apartment on 5th and Spruce, but Thanksgiving 2018 ended up being just the two of us. We made late dinner reservations at one of our favorite restaurants in the city, City Tavern. Because our dinner reservations weren't until later in the evening, I didn't start getting ready for dinner until the late afternoon. While I was in the shower, Shane secretly called my mom to tell her he was going to propose at dinner. After my shower, I continued to get ready, eventually settling in the living room to kill some time watching TV. Shane came over and sat next to me and kept saying things like, "you know I love you." To which I replied, "yeah, I know, now stop acting so weird." Then, to my absolute shock and surprise, Shane got down on his knees and pulled out a beautiful green sapphire ring. Needless to say (after asking him if he was serious about one hundred times) I said yes!
