This will be a quick pit stop on your way in to or out of Hood River! This waterfall is stunning and accessible, immediately off the main route to Hood River. It's the tallest waterfall in Oregon! You will need a timed entry through recreation.gov (linked below) for a nominal fee. If you have additional time, there are several other beautiful waterfalls along I-84 between Portland and Hood River.
We love this area! This park is right on the Columbia River, and Hood River is the "wind surfing capital" of the United States! There is green space, a beach, and a couple of our favorite spots for food or beer: Solstice Pizza and pFriem Family Brewers. There is typically ample parking, but some spots require an hourly payment. It's walking distance from the Hampton.
The "Fruit Loop" is a scenic drive just south of Hood River. There are a variety of wineries, orchards, lavender farms, and more. A few of our favorites include Panorama Point, Stave & Stone Winery at the Vineyard, and The Gorge White House Fruit Stand & Winery! It's very easy to make a whole afternoon exploring this area.
