Minnewaska State Park

These trails are 15-20 minutes from New Paltz. It is free to hike the trails, but there is a parking fee of $10 per car. There is an easy trail around the lap that takes about 45 minutes to complete. For advanced hikers, you can do Getrude's Nose. This is an 8-mile loop that you can do in 4-5 hours. There is a fair amount of elevation.
