Lauren and David swiped right on July 28th, 2014. Little did they know this would be the beginning of their adventure. David and Lauren texted and got to know each other via text. On August 4th, 2014 they had their first date. And let me tell you, it was quite the first date. When Lauren and David decided to meet face to face MONDAY Aug. 4th, in Goshen, IN, they had no idea the whole town of Goshen shuts down. They had planned on grabbing a drink at a really cool restaurant, but the only thing open was a dive bar named The Dew Drop Inn. To paint a picture, there was taxidermy everywhere, the bartender was annoyed that we ordered drinks and pulled her away from watching Jeopardy, and the bar has since been condemned and closed. Minus the state of the bar the date was going great! Lauren was really into David and enjoying herself. Maybe 20 minutes into the date, David excused himself to go to the restroom and Lauren frantically texted Linda (bridesmaid) to let her know she was safe and enjoying herself. Upon David's arrival back at the table, he got a call from his brother-in-law. David stated how odd it was for Adam to be calling since he never called. Lauren melted into her seat thinking "Great... he went to the bathroom, texted someone and said 'Get me out of here!'". Ironically, Adam just wanted to talk golf and we were all good. David was into Lauren too. After enjoying their beer, since that is the only thing the bar sold, Lauren and David went for a stroll around downtown Goshen. In one of the few crosswalks, David and Lauren had their first kiss; Lauren had just told David about how cool she was in High School and was in Math Club. Of course, it started raining on this date of dates, so it was called to a close, but the spark had been lit in both David and Lauren. No amount of rain was going to put out the fire that had been lit.
David and Lauren had been talking about getting married for years. David ALWAYS said he would do it when Lauren least expected it. And was he right! On July 17, 2018 Lauren had to teach 3 classes at the Y and worked all day. It was also Bil's Birthday and David had invited his folks over for a Birthday Dinner. After Bil and Dina had left the house, David kept asking Lauren when she was going to shower. Lauren knew she didn't smell great from teaching so many classes but couldn't understand David's persistence. Lauren finally went to shower and David went to work turning on music, "lighting" our battery operated candles, and got our stuffed animal of Rex from Toy Story to help guard the ring box. Once David and Rex were all ready, David came and asked Lauren to help him with something in the living room. Lauren walked out into the living room, wondering why the lights were off and music was playing. Quickly she realized David was not tying his shoe, he was down on one knee for her! David said some really sweet words, even though Lauren kept saying, "shut up!". Obviously, Lauren said yes and of course the phone calls began to everyone they could think of.
