Murphey and Emily met in the summer of 2021. Emily first saw Murphey when he was volunteering at an orchestra concert with his music fraternity. A few weeks later, Emily sent Murphey a message and asked him on a date!
On February 11, 2023, Murphey proposed to Emily below VanMeter Hall at WKU where they had their first kiss. Murphey secretly told some of their friends and they surprised Emily by popping up and shouting after Murphey proposed. After, Murphey had made a reservation for all of them to go to India Oven- one of Emily's favorite restaurants in Bowling Green. Then we went to Insomnia to get cookies of course!
We love going to visit Forest Park in St. Louis and we thought it would be a special place to say "I do!" We spent a few weeks going to scout out the perfect place to do our private ceremony. We loved the idea of saying our vows in the same city we are starting our lives together in! We chose to have our ceremony at the Pagoda Circle, a place we often visit to have a picnic or take a walk. We also loved the idea of having a small, private ceremony so we decided to elope! Although, we would've loved to have our friends and family there, it was special to us to have to have a small elopement in a place that meant so much to us!
