Our first date

Pranita: We were grabbing bar food and craft beer at Grain by the University of Delaware (my alma mater and his new employer). Jordan just moved to Newark and I’d been here my whole life. He made nerdy jokes and talked about EGFR a lot. I thought he was a really cute and simple guy. Still do. We exchanged numbers and have talked every day since! Jordan: I think our story's pretty normal. I met Pranita within two weeks of moving to Delaware. She suggested we meet at Grain, a craft beer bar down on Main by my new place of employment. That's when I learned she was (and still is) beautiful, down-to-earth, and funny! We enjoyed some light banter over some beers and bar food. She says I talked about lab stuff, which sounds like pretty dry first date material, but clearly it got the job done! We traded numbers and then went on fairly regular adventures after that and here we are!

The pandemic...

Pranita: By March 2020, we were totally in love and simultaneously devastated. Jordan asked if I wanted to move in so that we could be together during lockdowns. It didn't feel right at the time. But being apart didn't feel right either. For weeks, all we had were texts, video chats, Love is Blind watch parties, and the occasional chat on opposite ends of my parents' driveway. At some point, I'd had enough. I brought some stuff over and here I am. Jordan. March 2020. Everything changed when the pandemic attacked. I had to shelter at home and avoid all contact with the outside world - my dream come true! Except one thing... I had to quarantine from my beautiful babe. No more weekly gym meetings. No more couch snuggles. We made do with nightly video chats and some good old virtual Netflix'n, I suppose. Overall, a pretty dark time. One day she just got too fed up and moved in, so that solved that!

The proposal

Pranita: It was a half sunny, half gloomy Saturday in October. Jordan asked if I wanted to go to Milburn Orchards. I should have been suspicious... I am the one that drags him usually! Apple-picking in the Fall sounds a bit cliché, but it brings me so much joy. Not on that day, apparently. We parked and walked around a bit. I actually suggested we skip the hayride down to the orchard! I was in kind of a bad mood... Lol! That is life, I guess. Even the best days are not 100% rainbows and butterflies. Anyway, he asked if we could do the hayride and I didn't have the heart to say no. We stopped in front of a beautiful lake, isolated from everyone and everything, and he started getting all sentimental on me. It was so raw and real <3 and cute!!! Jordan: We went to the ol' farm Prinny loves. She likes to go there every year. Milburn Orchards. I had the ring stuffed in my coat pocket. The plan was simple: walk around the orchard, pick some apples, and look for a nice place to pop the question. I don't think it was particularly brilliant, novel, or cleverly disguised, so it seemed perfect to me! There was a nice little pond at the end of the apple orchard that seemed like the perfect spot. Honestly, I don't remember much after that - I said some nice things, asked her to marry me, and she said yes! Then we bought some food and an engagement pumpkin at the farm's shop! Yep, nothing seals the deal quite like an engagement pumpkin.
