We are asking that all guests, vaccinated or not, take a COVID-19 PCR test during the week of the wedding. This includes children. We also suggest that vaccinated guests bring their vaccination card, either physical or digital, in case the venue decides to require them due to changing guidelines. NYS Excelsior Pass works too! If your PCR test is positive, please do not attend the wedding. There will be no hurt feelings! We will find another time to celebrate when it is safe to do so! We are also suggesting that people wear masks while indoors. There will be masks available at the venues. If you would like to take additional precautions, please do so! We want to do what we can to celebrate, have fun, and stay as safe as possible.
PLEASE let us know if you have any food allergies. We will do our best to accommodate you, and if we cannot, we will let you know what foods to avoid.
A holude is a ceremony that is meant to bless the bride and groom as well as prepare them for the wedding. Traditionally, guests would apply turmeric paste onto the bride and groom's faces and arms; this was done so that they would 'glow' during their wedding day. We do things a bit differently now- turmeric would stain Mike's skin yellow, so we will use alternative lotions instead. Guests also feed the bride and groom a bite of food to signify that they are welcoming them to each others' families. The day is then followed by music and dancing- an all-around celebration.
For the Holude: Colorful and semiformal! Mumta's family and the bridal party will be wearing sarees and kurtas (knee-length men's shirts) in greens, pinks, oranges, yellows, etc. We would suggest polos and summer dresses. For the Wedding: Black tie optional. There will be a religious component, so we ask that ladies bring something to cover their shoulders.
We are registered at Zola.
We ask that you not take pictures during the ceremony; we would love to have an unplugged ceremony so that we can all enjoy the present moment together. After the ceremony, we would love for you to take and post pictures! Please use the hashtag #FromBingToRing so that we can see them afterwards as well.
