In 2020, we decided to look into local getaway options for a quick weekend in a unique setting. This is how we first came across The Treehouse, being just under 2 hours away from home, it was perfect. Fast forward two years, we decided to keep the tradition alive. While looking for another cabin to rent, Ian was interested in finding something new, but I could not shake the coziness of the treehouse, so we booked it again. This time it was January and hovering around -2 degrees when we arrived. Already cold to the bone from participating in the polar plunge that morning, Ian suggested we take a walk to the fire pit after unloading the car. He then very sneakily asked me to wait outside for him before walking down. However, the path was not cleared and was difficult to get through, so we decided to head back inside. As I turned around, Ian dropped to a knee and fully committed to the proposal in almost 2 feet of snow. Once inside, he had set up engraved champagne glasses (a lovely gift from Tara) and a bottle to pop & celebrate.
