Like many true millennials, we met the old-fashioned way: on Hinge. Matt responded to one of Taylor’s prompts featuring her very strong (and correct) stance that “Michigan is not the Midwest” — bold words considering his entire family is from Michigan. Naturally, he took this as both a challenge and a sign. After no less than 27 calendar checks and a few reschedules, we finally picked a day for our first date. Matt confidently announced he would make a reservation. And to *absolutely no one’s* surprise… he did not. Taylor, unfazed, suggested a dive bar instead and, also to *absolutely no one’s* surprise, picked her beloved (and conveniently walkable) Bryan Street Tavern. Before the date, Taylor texted some friends: “Going on a date to Bryan Street Tavern. This is literally what dreams are made of.” Hours later, she followed up with: “Update on Bryan Street first date: I think I’m in love." We talked and laughed all night. Taylor made fun of Tom Brady. Matt decided that wasn't a dealbreaker. And the rest, as they say, is history. Soon after, we introduced our pups — Biscuit and Jet — who, like their pawrents, became inseparable. One swipe on an unpopular opinion, zero dinner reservations, two dogs, and a dive bar first date that was literally what dreams are made of… and now here we are!
