Our favorite Saturdays are spent strolling Brooklyn Heights. Clark's is lovely in the morning for a classic diner breakfast or Din Soup Dumplings for a cozy lunch. If you stroll down Montague Street, you can pick up something to read at Books are Magic or see kitties in the window of Brooklyn Cat Café, where our Céline was rescued. At the end of the street is the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, offering beautiful views of lower Manhattan.
Enjoy the neighborhood where we fell in love! The small but sweet Cobble Hill Park is beautiful in the fall and the surrounding historic district is full of brownstones that are a delight to stroll by. Food-wise, you can't go wrong here! Favorites include Long Island Bar for a burger, Lobo (cash only!) for Mexican, Mikado for sushi and Joya for Thai. In the morning, Octavia or Swallow are excellent for coffee. Killing time before welcome drinks? Taking the party elsewhere after? Talea is fantastic for a beer and Elsa for a cocktail. If you want a preview or can't make the wedding day nightcap, be sure to hit Congress Bar, where we're regulars.
Take in autumn in New York in Brooklyn Bridge Park! If you head toward the bridges you'll find yourself in DUMBO where you can ride Jane's Carousel, pop in to Fish's Eddy for a quick shop, or head to The Randolph for a bite, a beer and some arcade games.
If you're looking to stick super-close to the hotels, be sure to check out Mile End Deli for a breakfast sandwich or a plate of poutine. Grand Army is also a fantastic spot for a quick cocktail.
