Kirsten and Tommy met in 2003 when they went to the same school, Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. Fast forward to August 2007, Kirsten laid her eyes on Tommy during volleyball and football camp a few weeks before their junior and senior year began. Kirsten shared to her girlfriends that she was interested in Tommy, but was too shy to make a move yet. For a little while, they talked even more than before and sent each other AOL instant messages (remember AIM?!) more often than usual. Early in the fall, there was a volleyball and football game that Kirsten and Tommy traveled together, a couple of friends insisted that they take a picture together after the football game and they did. Kirsten was timid and hoped that Tommy wouldn't suspect anything because they never really took a picture together before. Meanwhile, this gave Tommy a hint. Eventually, they started dating for 3 months. In December, Tommy took Kirsten out for a walk after school. He led her under an old bridge in Faribault finding a bright orange paint on the bridge wall asking her to be his girlfriend!! And the rest, as they say, is history!
In December, Kirsten and Tommy went on a family vacation in Red Lodge, Montana for a snowboarding trip with Tommy’s family. On Christmas Day, during their last ride down the ‘Lazy M’ trail, Tommy offered Kirsten to crack open cold ones off the trail before arriving at the base. Kirsten followed Tommy unsuspectingly into a special opening between the snowcapped trees almost as it was inviting them to go into this magical spot. As Kirsten expected a cold one, instead he surprised her with a gleaming ring. It was the day Tommy proposed to Kirsten. They are so excited to start the next chapter of their lives together and can’t wait to celebrate with you in October!
