FAQs

The Wedding Website of Cadie Pittman and Wesley Nelson
Question

Why are you getting married in Raleigh?

Answer

We know most of you probably have this question. We wanted our wedding to take place outside of the Charlotte area for several reasons. When we began searching for options, we found our venues through divine providence and we are so grateful the Lord has lead us to Raleigh for our wedding. We hope you will enjoy celebrating with us just a little farther away from home!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We will only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. While the more is the merrier, we ask that you do not bring a plus one.

Question

It's a game day for NC State. What will this do to ceremony traffic & parking?

Answer

Well, first of all, we can all hope that they will lose. I would put an NC State loss on the registry if I could, but since I can't, I will just hope for the best. Secondly, our ceremony begins at 2pm sharp. The coordinators will not hold the doors if we have late guests in attendance, so it's important to arrive at the cathedral as early as you can. We suggest targeting your arrival time for 1:30. Parking is plentiful at the cathedral, so the only thing to navigate that day will be potential traffic since the stadium is located very closely to the cathedral. (Obviously Cadie wrote the beginning of this answer.)

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Black-tie optional. Groomsmen will be in tuxes and bridesmaids will be in floor length gowns. We do ask that what you wear is church appropriate to be respectful while in the cathedral.

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

We're all going to have to 'mind the gap' a little. The bridal party will be taking pictures for a little over an hour, and the cocktail hour begins two hours after the ceremony ends. Please do not go immediately to the reception venue. We recommend grabbing an afternoon coffee nearby, running back to the hotel for your dancing shoes, or visiting with family. We've marked some great spots and things to do doing the downtime under the 'Things To Do' page above.

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

You'll find our registry under the 'Registry' tab above soon. Our registry is online only, including the china we selected. We have a few gifts marked as "group gifts" if you would like to consider contributing to those instead of another gift. Thank you so much for helping us fill out our future home!

Question

What's the best way to RSVP?

Answer

Under the 'RSVP' tab above. We will update this page with an RSVP deadline after our tasting on June 8th. Our RSVP is online only. We hope you will be able to come and celebrate our wedding with us!

Question

What can we expect at a Catholic wedding ceremony?

Answer

Our wedding will be a Catholic Mass and will be approximately an hour long. No need to worry if you're not Catholic - our programs will clearly lay out each step of the ceremony. We are excited to share the beauty of the Mass with you!

Question

What can I expect at the reception?

Answer

A fun celebration! The cocktail hour will be indoors with access to the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course. Dinner will follow in the ballroom with dancing afterward. But look, we're almost 30 and we're tired. We will not be teaching you how to dougie or wobble and we all know the electric slide. Think 'Father of the Bride'. Expect plenty of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and classic wedding reception songs.

Question

I have dietary restrictions/allergies. What's the best way to let you know?

Answer

Please tell us as you RSVP online about any dietary restrictions you have. We want you to enjoy the dinner and be comfortable!

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Wine, beer, and soda will be provided at the bar.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We ask that you do refrain from photography during the ceremony. We really want you to enjoy and be present with us during the Mass. Our photographer will be taking so many lovely photographs we can't wait to share with you, and we do ask that you do not interrupt the shots she will be taking.

Question

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

Answer

We do - we bought into the trend. If you're sharing about our special day, we'd love if you used the hashtag, #MuchAdoAboutNelson We began to get closer while doing Much Ado About Nothing and that was the catalyst for our friendship, which obviously lead to dating. And we do love a big to do, so it makes sense all the way around!
