It was April 2022, and Michelle was at her home in New Jersey when she received an auspicious text and phone call from her Aunt Bonnie about a possible set up. Skeptical that she'd ever hear from the guy and getting ready to travel for three weeks, she said sure, why not. She was curious to know more, but didn't want to get her hopes up. Meanwhile, Zach's mom, Robin, was working her matchmaking skills on Zach... On April 27th, 2022, Zach sent his first text to Michelle to arrange an intro phone call. Their first 30-minute call involved plenty of awkward, but joyful and cute, getting-to-know-you laughter and banter and an easy and comfortable connection to both of their surprises. Their phone call led to 3 weeks of texting (mostly about s'mores and California sunshine) while Michelle traveled. Their 3 weeks of digital dating served them well as they went into their first date confident and excited to (finally!) meet in person. Their first date was conveniently located for Michelle and inconveniently located for Zach, at The Smith on the Upper West Side. Zach greeted Michelle with a warm and friendly smile and they were off to the races!
