The night we met

Shaun’s Perspective

On August 4th, 2019 we met on the boardwalk in Asbury park, both of us unknowingly heading to The Stone Pony to see ‘Rebelution’ at the summer stage. My friends and I ran into Morgan’s friend Lori (who we all knew from Brick House) when I first laid eyes on Morgan and shortly after we went our separate ways. Later that night after the show, I walked alone to Langosta Lounge to have a drink to finish off the night. When I sat down with a jack and coke on the metal barstool outside overlooking the ocean, Morgan walked on over to accompany me. She rambled on some type of silly comments and told me she loved me 7 minutes into the conversation lol in a jokingly nervous not knowing what to say next kind of way. Something about her carefree and kind personality drove me to spend the next 7 hours with her, I guess you can say her good looks played a role as well. We walked and talked along the shore for countless hours until the sun came up. Covering everything about each other from music taste to what we want our future to look like. The cool breeze that struck her dark curly hair, along with the soft glow of moonlight reflecting off her beautiful face left me damn near speechless with every step we took. Eventually as dawn approached Lori, Morgan, and I left town and ended up ordering soup at a diner at 6am lol. Morgan drove me home and I slowly eased out of the car never building the courage to ask for her number. However, I truly knew deep down that it wasn’t the last time I would see her. Sure enough fate knew its way because less than a few days later, I found her tending the bar at Brick House. From there…the rest is history.

The night we met

Morgan’s perspective

On August 4th, 2019, I was heading to Asbury Park with a friend of mine to see a show we didn’t even have tickets to yet. When we got there and walked the boardwalk, my friend Lori called out to a group of people that she recognized.. I had no idea who these people were, so as she was saying hi to everyone I stepped off to the side until we carried on with our day. Later on that night after the show was over, I was playing Jenga with a bunch of random people at some outdoor bar when I noticed Shaun. He was sitting by himself at a bar table, eyeing me up (I might add) & as soon as I looked at him I stopped what I was doing, grabbed my beer, and walked over to him without a second thought. I had no plan so I just smiled said “Hi! :)” The entire night after that felt like a scene from one of my favorite movies. We clicked instantly. The conversation flowed effortlessly, filled with laughter as we shared our dreams, our lives, and our ambitions. I was totally smitten by him—he was smart, funny, and so kind. His laugh was infectious, and I remember telling him, “My cheeks hurt from laughing so much.” It felt like the universe had aligned for that moment, like meeting him was exactly how I always imagined meeting the love of my life. As the hours flew by, neither of us were ready for the night to end, so we headed to the Edison Diner. I drove us back to town, rapping nearly every Eminem song along the way. It was the perfect day, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that our meeting was something truly meant to be.
