We met during our freshman year of college, thanks to mutual friends (Sean & Grace) who thought we might be a good match. Our first date was a walk through the Phoenix Zoo Christmas lights, and from the beginning, our connection felt effortless. That night, Sydney went home and told her brother Mitchell that Matthew was “the one” — without realizing just how true those words would become. The very next morning, we met for coffee, and as Christmas break approached, we both felt that God was doing something special in bringing us together. Our relationship began to grow quickly, rooted in our friendship and faith. At the end of the year, Matthew was invited on Sydney’s annual family trip to Florida. He survived sharing a room with all five of her brothers, and by the end of that trip, we had our first intentional conversation about marriage. As the years passed, we've become each other's better halves. We walked through transitions, joys, accomplishments, and trials side by side, learning what it means to love one another with patience, commitment, and grace. In June, Matthew bought a ring in Sydney’s hometown and carried it with him on our summer trip to Florida. On the same beach where we once dreamed about our future, he asked Sydney to become his wife. There was never any doubt that the answer would be YES!!! We are immensely grateful for the sovereignty and kindness of the Lord — not only on that unforgettable day, but throughout our entire dating relationship. We are beyond excited to be planning a day that brings all of our family and friends together. We ask for prayers as we step into this next season together, that His guidance would continue to bless our union and that our marriage would bring honor and glory to Him above all else!
