The "mehndi" event in an Indian wedding is a pre-wedding ceremony in which intricate henna designs are applied to the bride's and wedding guests' hands, symbolizing good luck, prosperity and beauty. It's a festive celebration that includes dancing, food and music, and usually takes place the night before the wedding day. A "sangeet" is a celebratory musical event in which family and friends of the bride and groom come together to sing songs and perform dances, marking the union of the two families and celebrating the couple's upcoming marriage. The word "sangeet" literally translates to "sung together" in Sanskrit. We'll be combining these two traditions into one fun event! Get your henna done with one of our professional henna artists, enjoy a delicious Indian dinner, show off your talents in the performance segment & take some (surprise) goodies home with you!
Henna is a natural dye derived from the leaves of the henna plant, and is primarily used to create temporary "tattoos" on the skin. Artists apply the paste in intricate designs and once dried, it imparts a rich stain on the skin, ranging from a reddish brown to a dark cherry color. Henna is organic, safe for the skin, and a culturally significant practice in many regions across the globe. The stain is temporary and typically fades within 1-2 weeks. To achieve the best stain, apply the henna paste to clean, dry skin and let the paste dry completely before removing it. Avoid contact with soap and water for a few hours afterwards - the longer you wait, the richer the stain!
