Kristy and I met through a mutual friend, Trisha. After a long night of trying to gets Kristy's attention, it wasn't until our midnight stop for breakfast at a local diner where Kristy finally gave me the time of day! We had a long, deep conversation about life, traveling, family and... Oreos! The next day Kristy texted Trisha asking her permission to ask me on a date, little did she know...I was also texting Trisha, asking for permission as well. The very next day, Kristy picked me up for our date. Instead of the traditional first date flowers, she brought me an eight pack of Oreos cookies (a golden ticket to my heart). On our date, we played a few rounds of laser tag at the Brunswick Zone arcade, where of course I won....but Kristy won my heart!
The day started with a rainy, February day in Florida. Kristy planned the week vacation for my birthday. On that particular day we planned to take a ride to St. Petersburg. This is where we would tour the Frida Khalo exhibit at the Salvador Dali Museum (My favorite artists). Little did I know, Kristy was planning something a little different. We get to the Museum, where we walk around admiring the amazing art work. Afterwards, we got some coffee from the museums café, headed outside to the Dali garden and had a seat on the melting clock shaped bench. The sun was finally shining for the first time all day. Naturally, I thought it was a perfect time for a picture. As I reach for my phone for a picture, Kristy was reaching for the ring. When I turned back around to look at her she said to me, "Hey you, will you marry me?". Of course I said yes! The next thing I know, there's a photographer standing in front of us capturing the entire moment (which Kristy also planned). We spent the rest of the day calling loved ones and celebrating with front row seats at Circus Du Soleil.
