FAQs

Question

Where can I stay?

Answer

The event itself will be at a campground along the highway between Banks and McCall. There are two other campgrounds within walking distance if you enjoy camping and want to be near. There is also a lot of BLM land in the area, for more dispersed camping. North of the site are the towns of Cascade and Donnelly, as well as McCall. These towns have accommodations, including AirBnB.

Question

Where can I park?

Answer

We are working on options, as we expect parking to be limited. Stay tuned. We strongly encourage carpooling. You know, the environment, space, time, etc.

Question

Will any food be provided?

Answer

We will be providing a spread of Mediterranean food to graze on throughout the afternoon/evening, after the ceremony. There will not be a sitdown meal, but a more casual approach, so you can eat when you're hungry. In your RSVP there should be a section to note any dietary concerns, please do and we will do our best (it's a big part of why we chose Mediterranean, as it's so flexible and delicious).

Question

Will there be alcohol on site?

Answer

Yes. We plan to provide an open bar that consists of personally brewed beer, batched manhattans and margaritas, as well various bits and pieces to craft your own drinks (maybe wine, include it in your RSVP if you prefer this). There is also a fair chance that Michael will be there shaking drinks throughout the night, so don't hesitate to ask. We would appreciate any willingness to contribute by bringing a bottle of your favorite spirit/wine/beer/seltzer. We never say no to gin. There will also be non-alcoholic drinks, and Michael is also willing to whip up some mocktails in a pinch.

Question

Dress Code

Answer

As formal as you'd like. Michael will be wearing a tux, because he can.

Question

Bathrooms and showers?

Answer

Fair warning: this is at a Forest Service campground, so the toilets are pit toilets. That being said, we'll be putting in extra effort to keep 'em tidy. The upside to river gear is that we will have wash stations for when you're finished. There are no showers onsite, though Michael is concocting a scheme to build portable ones and set them up for our dirty river friends, so stay tuned.

Question

Kids and dogs?

Answer

There will be kids and dogs. We are exploring setting up a corral for the ki... dogs. We do ask that your dog be friendly with other small creatures and that you take care in managing your dog. This event is also next to a road, so be cautious. For the other small creatures, we plan to have various 'lawn' games (croquet, spike ball, etc.) and board games for entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Question

What's with the registry?

Answer

We plan to live in a van (some day) and don't expect to settle down for a few years. We do however, plan to keep boating, hence the registry being most of a setup for a raft. It is currently set to hold the funds, as we have a few options to get equipment a bit cheaper than directly from the vendors. We appreciate any contributions to this goal and recognize that they are big goals. Most of them are set to be group donations, so many can contribute to one item. If you prefer, we have also setup a cash gift option.

Question

What's the best airport to fly in to?

Answer

Surprisingly, Boise has shown good rates and is only an hour from the site. SLC is also a good option, though it's a longer drive.

Question

Dancing?

Answer

There will be a dance floor. People will dance.

For all the days along the way
