A mutual and very persistent friend, Dane Guevara, brought us together. He had previously mentioned to Mark Jason (Boom) that he thought him and Dominique would get along and it just so happened that she was in St. Louis teaching a dance workshop the same weekend that Boom was performing at a local venue. Boom asked Dane to invite Dominique to his show, but being the dedicated graduate student that she was, she resisted and refused to stay out late, due to an exam she had on the upcoming Monday. There was another invitation extended to Boom's after party at ‘Pepper Lounge’, and after much deliberation, and Dominique’s internal dialogue telling her to "be present in the moment", she decided last minute to go with Dane. Boom anticipated her arrival and noted “different energy”, when she arrived. His gentleman presence and Bruno Mars’ song, ‘Treasure’, made it memorable for her. There were good vibes all night, but it wasn’t until Spring of 2014 when we started dating each other.

Boom had the ring with him, during our vacation on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Our last day on the Kona coast, right before we planned to spend the remainder of the trip in the jungle in Hilo, we went to catch the sunset on the beach. Dominique brought a bottle of Rosé and Boom brought his Ukelele. We jammed, got lost in the colors of the horizon (Dominique's favorite "cotton candy skies"), listened to the waves and laughed with our friends, Brian & Lindsey Folkerts. Boom's rendition of Daniel Caesar's 'Blessed' led us into the next moment. Next thing we knew, the sun had set, friends had left, stars filled the night sky and Boom went on one of his prolonged 'signature speeches', and whipped out a small box. After Boom explained the engagement in three thoughtful phases (also symbolized in her ring stack) and Dominique analyzed the entire situation, Mr. Dr. became the Vibe.
