Eric and I both came to school SFA & somehow didn't cross paths until the Spring of 2017 when we became tour guides on campus, a.k.a. Jack Walkers. We were around each other at weekly meetings, retreats, and community groups at church. A semester went by as friends, and when school started back up we got involved with a ministry on campus. I remember thinking that Eric was fun and outgoing, and that I wanted to get to know him more. Eric remembers being interested in me & working up the courage to ask me out. We began leading college community groups at our church, and going through a discipleship class with Terrell Eggers (who will marry us). This was where we got to know each other most as friends, and were able to lean on each other for growing understanding of Jesus. Our friendship was always light and fun. Eric asked me to get breakfast with him one morning because he wanted to get to know me better. We met at The Fredonia Hotel and talked for hours. After that - about a month went by, and Eric finally asked me if he could take me on a date. Our close friends note this monumental day by the fact that Eric was wearing a white fedora in October & claim that's why I said no. I'd just friend-zoned Eric. Hard.
From the Fall of 2017 to the Spring of 2019 a lot had happened for Eric and I both. I'd finished my senior year, graduated, moved to Dallas, and started my first job. He was leading community group and finishing up school. Each of us growing personally in ways we'd never imagined. I frequently came back to Nacogdoches to visit family and friends, and always kept up with Eric when I'd see him. I saw Eric again when he came to Dallas for a conference with Trey (best man), and Megan (bridesmaid) in the Fall of 2018. They invited me to tag along on a trip they’d planned. I went, and we had the most dreamy week hanging out and soaking in the beauty of Utah. At the end of the week, Megan had caught on to the fact that I was interested in Eric & Trey had caught onto the fact that Eric was interested in me. Despite the fact that I lived in Dallas, Eric was still in school, and that he'd been rejected once before - Trey encouraged him to ask me out anyways. He asked me if he could take me on a date, and I told him I'd say yes if he would let me walk down the mountain (snowboarding was not my strong suit). On January 25, 2019, Eric drove three hours to Dallas to take me to dinner, and then drove back home that night. On our date, I felt like we had been dating for years. It was just natural. We got to know each other more with frequent visits from Nacogdoches to Dallas. Dating was so fun and full of rich memories that would take forever to note - but we knew that we were ready to know each other inside covenant. On June 6, 2019, surrounded by our closest friends and family - Eric asked me to marry him & it was the easiest yes. Eric had planned our proposal around many things that the Lord had spoken to him about. I've never experienced anything this intentional. *pictures in the photo tab
