Chase and I met through mutual friends. His best friend, Justin, invited both of us over for a game night. Chase had just gotten divorced so he was shy and didn’t speak very much. I ended up leaving in the middle of the game because I was bored. After I had gotten home, he messaged and explained his story and how he wasn’t ready for a relationship, but neither was I. After the conversation we didn’t speak much. I ended up in a relationship that was not right for me and he met Kathryn. He and Kathryn had a babygirl, Sutton. Throughout time we saw each other, he would come get his hair cut on occasion. In 2017 he ended up sending me a message. I wasn’t that interested because I just remember being bored on the first night we met, but I agreed to go on a date with him anyway. I knew there was something special about him, but he was once again not ready to commit. He needed time to love himself before he could love me. We went our separate ways again a few months after the date, but we still would talk every now and then. He constantly stayed on my mind. Fast forward to 2018, we both were attending Church of the Highlands on our own. We were both growing spiritually. We would have conversations about church and our passions and purpose in life. One day it just clicked, we were now ready for this relationship. We decided to do life and continue growing together. It hasn’t been a fairytale and sometimes it is hard, we are in no way perfect. Every day we wake up and commit to each other and choose each other. He’s my best friend and I can’t wait to marry him and to continue our growth.
When Chase and I first started dating, there were some reservations about whether or not I would be able to fully accept him and his children into my life. That was never the case. Not only do I accept them, I love them dearly. Brock, Brant and Sutton, should you ever read this, I want you to know that I love you. I also want you to know that the day I marry your daddy I am also marrying all of you. I promise to always be there, to always be fair and always be loving. I will never desert any of you. All of you will forever be my always.
