Abi and Yaya first crossed paths as kids—two familiar faces in a swirl of family events and community meetings, thanks to the Nigerian Youth Alliance, where their families were longtime friends. Life happened, and they drifted apart over the years. Then one day, at a naming ceremony for a mutual family friend, they spotted each other again. A little small talk turned into a genuine reconnection. At the time, Abi had actually unfollowed Yaya on Twitter (“ew,” she said, plainly), but that didn’t stop him. One day, out of nowhere, he slid into her messages with a funny video. That became his thing—sending laughs until she started looking forward to them. And just like that, she bit. The rest, as they say, is history.
