Our Love Story

Together in Faith, United in Love

Their story began in 2021 during a mutual friend’s wedding preparations, where they briefly met but barely spoke. A few weeks later, at another wedding in a different state, they found themselves traveling together in the same bus and airplane. They had their first real conversation then, and exchanged contact information and went out once back in Maine. Grace made it very clear it was not a date insisting to pay for her own meal. Afterward, they drifted apart, as Grace shared she wasn’t ready for a relationship. Nearly a year later, when they began attending the same home church, their conversation resumed. For a second outing, what was meant to be a polite birthday outing—so Grace could gently turn Mel down—unexpectedly became a beautiful turning point. Grace would later describe that moment as the best night she hadn’t experience in a long while at that time. Their connection deepened, and in May 2023, they made their relationship official. Few months in, Mel made his intentions about marriage clear, proudly shouting “future wife” at every opportunity. An unwavering confidence that was tested when they hit a road block. Despite the distance and a long silence that resulted from the relationship turmoil, Mel sent a message one morning expressing not being worried, that whatever misunderstanding stood between them would fade because he knew Grace was his wife. Grace initially found the statement to be bold and perhaps arrogant but they eventually worked through their differences. By 2025, marriage was no longer hypothetical as Families met, plans were discussed, and a proposal was thoughtfully centered around the phrase “One Day”—a declaration of faith, hope, and a promise that carried them through every season. One Day things will be better, One Day we will overcome, One Day we will get married. Now, on May 8, 2026, Mel and Grace stand before God, family, and friends to witness the fulfillment of “One Day,” grateful that what was once spoken in faith has become their reality.
