Wish You Could Be Here

It deeply saddens us that we are unable to share our wedding day with our friends and family. Due to the current gathering restrictions, we decided it would be best to change from the wedding we had envisioned to a small ceremony with our parents and siblings. We have been together for over 4 years, and couldn't imagine postponing our wedding any longer. How incredibly blessed we are to have so many people in our lives who love and support us! Everyone of you has greatly impacted and molded us into the two individuals we have become. We apologize if our decision effects any previously made travel plans and thank you for understanding. We love you all and hope to celebrate with you sometime in the future. We will be posting pictures of our wedding day here!

How We Met

We met one another on Wes' first day on the job at Fastimes Indoor Karting. Lauren was working as a cashier that day and found Wes attractive right off the bat. At the end of the shift, the employee's were given a free "shift race" on the track. Confident in his go-karting skills, having raced on the track multiple times before, Wes challenged Lauren claiming he would get a quicker time than her. Needless to say, Lauren kicked his butt. Very few times since then has Lauren been able to beat Wes in a race, but never has she let him live the memory of that race down.

How He Asked

In mid September of 2019, we traveled to Millinocket, Maine for a week long vacation. On the second day of the trip, we headed to Baxter State Park to hike the last leg of the Appalachian Trail, Mount Katahdin. We were completely unprepared for the cold weather and high winds, but Wes was determined to make it to the top. About halfway through, after passing the tree line, the winds were so intense that we were forced to turn around and Wes had to abandon his proposal plan. Devastated that we would not be making it to the summit, we took a detour on our way back down to stop at Katahdin Streams. It was there alongside a waterfall, after accepting that he would not ask the big question, Wes decided that the plan was back on. He proposed and she said yes.
