Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Nuptial mass - Sunday best: no casual, jean, or ripped clothing please. Traditional cultural wear is also appropriate for mass (ao dai/barong/filipiniana/any cultural formal wear). Reception - Black-tie optional: floor-length gowns, suites, glitz & glamour! We love getting dressed up and there haven't been many opportunities to do so recently, so we wanted to give our guests the chance to get fancy for dinner. The reception venue is an art gallery, so if you're feeling glam, we'd love to see it! Cocktail attire and flat shoes are also welcome, and don’t feel pressured to change!

Question

What do I do during intermission?

Answer

You can go home and change, take a nap, grab a drink near by, or do some sightseeing. Check out our "Things To Do" page for more suggestions.

Question

What if I'm not Catholic?

Answer

All are welcome to our nuptial mass - we ask that only practicing Catholics participate in receiving the Eucharist (the priest will let you know when this is). This mass is where we will actually “get married”. If you aren't comfortable celebrating mass with us, no problem, we'll see you at the reception!

Question

How come you don't have gifts in your registry?

Answer

Our cultural traditions don't really involve wrapped gifts! In Vietnamese wedding culture, the bride and groom greets every table of guests at their reception to toast and thank them for attending. This gesture is called chào bàn and can involve lots of merriment. Chào bàn literally translates to, “hello, table.” We'll say hello and receive your cards/red envelopes, words of wisdom, and cheers... and could possibly be convinced to play a short drinking game :-)

Question

What's a money dance?

Answer

Filipino Money Dance The money dance is a cultural tradition at many wedding receptions where guests offer the newlyweds money to dance with them, or they shower the couple with money. Male guests line up in front of the bride to pin money on her dress while the women pin money on the groom. The pinning can get creative with bills pinned together as garlands, made into crowns, or streaming down their clothing. This “decorating” can take a while if there are a lot of dancers, and guests take turns dancing with the bride and groom

Question

Where do I park?

Answer

St. Anne's has a parking lot and street parking available. AXIS does not have an assigned lot, however there are lots of options for both street parking and paid parking lots. Check out the "Travel" page or visit this website to check nearby lots: https://downtownseattle.org/parking/

Question

What if I have food allergies?

Answer

Our menu will be largely dairy, egg, gluten and nut free! You can indicate your specific allergies when you RSVP. Exceptions include one of the three appetizers (gluten) and the late night snack (gluten)

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids, but our guest list is pretty tight! Your invitation will indicate the number of seats we've saved for you.

Question

What about COVID-19?

Answer

We will be following all King County, CDC, and venue regulations when it comes to your health and safety. As of March 12, 2022, King County no longer requires face masks in indoor public spaces. We expect *150-200 guests to be in attendance. If you aren't comfortable celebrating with that many people, we totally understand and you'll be missed. *All of this is subject to guidance at the time of the wedding - as everyone knows, things change often and unpredictably! Please check back for the latest updates.
