Colorado has it all - mountains, waterfalls, lakes, deserts, forests and most importantly, adventure! Once we decided to elope we knew we wanted to do something special that we could look back on and remember forever. We were lucky enough to find an amazing photographer who is helping us make our dreams come true in, " The Switzerland of America." We also loved that Colorado is one of the only places that allows for couples to legally self solemnize, which means we are able to marry ourselves without an officiant or any witnesses. It might not be for everyone, but it's perfect for us.
This was a difficult decision for us, but the simple answer is that we wanted our big day to be enormously special by being very small and intimate. As much as we love all of our family and friends we wanted to be able to focus on each other and enjoy our long awaited vows in private without any of the outside pressures and stress a more traditional wedding can cause. Ultimately we felt it was a good fit for us and appreciate everyone’s support.
Obviously we cannot speak for our parents, but we have been blessed with two sets of very loving and understanding parents who prioritize our wants and happiness. We discussed our plans with them both before we fully committed to anything and were reassured, multiple times, by both families that they supported any decision we made.
This is our favorite question, YES. We will “really” be married, “like legally” and we will be able to check married on all of our official legal documents.
As of right now we do not have a set date, but we are expecting to celebrate our marriage with everyone sometime in Spring 2023. We will keep everyone posted and send out invitations when we have a better idea of exactly where and when our reception will be. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
