How We Met

Let's keep it friendly

Matt & I met through a mutual friend & bridesmaid, Ashley Scaduto, who he met in 6th grade, and I met in 9th. Throughout our colleges years we would attend the same parties, traveled to Penn State together to visit Ashley, celebrated New Year's Eve, and so on. Though there was always some harmless flirting that went on, the timing was never right- either Matt was taken, or I was. I remember finding out that Matt was once again single, and shortly after during a night out in Asbury Park, Matt and his friend came back to our house in Tinton Falls in September 2012. I let him sleep on our couch and gave him a blanket, and he pulled me in to kiss me. He claims I told him "Let's keep it friendly..." which I deny saying. We've been inseparable since that night, for 7 wonderful years!

The Proposal

Starting the New Year with a bang

Matt & I went to Cabarete, Dominican Republic, to visit one of his best friends, Alex (Frenchie). I had hoped that over Christmas a proposal would come, but that did not happen- Matt loves to say how unhappy I was Christmas of 2018 :) One day Matt wanted to head to the beach to kiteboard- I had suggested that I would stay back at the hotel and hang out by the pool so I wasn't alone on the beach. He kept insisting, and I kept saying "Why can't I just hang here for a little, you'll be busy anyway." Finally, he said "Come here, I have to show you something." He reached into his suitcase and pulled out a ring box, got down on one knee, and proposed. Needless to say I was shocked, happy tears flowing!
