Steven and I met one summer through a coworker at the Hanover Inn. Said coworker playfully mentioned that a certain Steven Griswold would reach out to me asking for a date. Given that I was leaving for a semester abroad in two months, and very confused by the whole situation, I promptly told my coworker that I was not interested. A little embarrassed, I took it upon myself to connect with Steven on social media and clear the air. Turns out Steven was just as confused as I was! Our coworker hadn’t mentioned the situation to him, yet...something clicked. Before we knew it, Steven and I launched into a text conversation that spanned weeks, getting to know each other little by little. Eventually we agreed to see what all the fuss was about and meet in person. Over mini-golf and dinner, we talked for hours and hours, making me over an hour late for my summer class! One date led to another, and then to many, until it was time for my semester in Ireland. As daunting a prospect as long-distance was, we couldn’t think of any other way than to tough it out together. Many of our friends and family thought we were crazy at the time; little did they know it was the best - and arguably the easiest - decision that we’d ever made.
