Rachel and Chris met at the University of Pennsylvania. The two shared mutual friends and were friendly in passing for three years until one fateful night at a party in November 2015, Chris turned on the charm, and from there asked Rachel to be his formal date. From then on they talked all of winter break, went to formals together, and continued on dates during their last semester.

On July 23rd, the Hlatky's were visiting the Gabos' at their Spring Lake beach house. The day was spent on the beach enjoying the sun and sand. Later on we got ready to go to a nice family dinner, when Chris took Rachel for "pre-dinner drinks." As he lead the way past the restaurant Rachel questioned where they were going. He lead her across the street to the lake, the sidewalk lined with rose petals which lead to a landing with a picnic setup and champagne. He asked for her hand there and she, of course, replied with a yes!
