Davon’s story: Over the past year, we’ve packed for several trips and taken several flights. This weekend getaway was different. I knew I was traveling with my future wife. During the train ride I began ruminating on which words I would use to ask for her hand in marriage. Saturday morning was a blur. Pancakes make her smile, so I found a place in Tribeca that made great pancakes. I was literally buttering her up…get it…pancakes, proposal 😁. Anyway, fast forward to the night of the proposal. Reshanda was obsessed with not getting mugged, she was on high alert the entire night. My plan was to propose in front of the Christmas tree in front of Rockefeller plaza but it was too crowded and chaotic. In all the madness I found a doorway. I pulled her towards me and began my well rehearsed proposal. Halfway through I realized she wasn’t paying attention as she was fixated on the thousands of possible muggers. After I clarified that I was asking her to be my wife, she became fully present everyone disappeared and she agreed to make me the luckiest man in the world. Reshanda’s story: We were in New York for a quick weekend getaway. We started the day with an amazing breakfast at Bubby’s in Tribeca, shopping in Manhattan in the early afternoon, and Times Square to be tourist for the evening. We stood in line for maybe 30 minutes to get a slice of pizza from Joe’s. Afterwards, we walked through Times Square and to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree. The area was really crowded. We got a close as we could to see the tree, took a selfie together, and basically agreed that it was time to get out of this craziness. As we’re pushing ourselves through the crowd, Davon stops to pull me into a corner next to the Today Show building. I said, “why are we stopping? Does your knee hurt or something?” He says, “No. I just want to tell you you’re the love of my life.” I said, “I know. You say that all the time.” I’m looking at him and wondering why he stopped to tell me this as we’re trying to get out of this crowd. He goes on to say some other mushy stuff and i’m just looking at him and nodding my head. Then he says, “Reshanda, I’m proposing to you.” I yell, “Oooohhhh!” 😂 He asked me to be his wife and I said of course!
