In the midst of the global pandemic in 2020, when physical distancing became the new norm a serendipitous connection blossomed through a dating app. We met on the interwebs of a dating app called Hinge amidst a sea of profiles and conversations, our paths crossed. Eventually, as restrictions eased and it became safer to meet, we embarked on our first in-person encounter. After many memorable and funny text exchanges we had our first date at a sushi restaurant. The ambience was vibrant, the sushi exquisite, and the conversation flowed effortlessly, deepening the connection that had sparked online. However, the world was still adapting to the new normal, and activities were limited. Our early months of dating were characterized by long walks in the park, cherishing each other's company. Drive-in movies became our go-to option, providing a nostalgic and romantic backdrop for our blossoming relationship. The restrictions may have hindered conventional dating experiences, but they couldn't dampen the excitement and joy we found in each other's presence. These unique and intimate moments solidified our bond, proving that even during challenging times, love could flourish and create lasting memories. What began as a chance encounter online during a tumultuous period in history transformed into a beautiful love story that continues to unfold. The pandemic may have confined us to our homes, but it couldn't contain the love that took root between us.
On the eve of my birthday, on June 3, 2022, Alex had already planned a special dinner outing to celebrate. As we set off for our dinner reservations, little did I know that this evening would mark a pivotal moment in our relationship. On the way to the restaurant, Alex suggested a quick detour to the park that we had visited in the early stages of our relationship. As we strolled through the familiar surroundings, Alex surprised me by presenting a heartfelt letter. As I reached the end of the letter, I noticed the last sentence of the letter said "Will you marry me?" and I turned to find Alex on one knee, holding a beautiful engagement ring. Overwhelmed with joy and excitement, I of course cried and yelled "Yes!" The park, once again a witness to our love, and will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts as the backdrop to this unforgettable proposal.
