Gabriel and Selena were sophomores when they met. Selena had moved from another school to join Eastwood Academy in Houston and although they were good friends during their time there, they did not date until college. After graduation, Gabriel started college at Texas A&M University in College Station and Selena at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. After their first semester of college, some former high school teachers (shout out to Mr. Soora and Mr. A) had a reunion event where Gabriel and Selena were reunited. They decided to "hang out" that 2015 Summer at Dave & Busters and after a very fun time, they dated for the rest of the summer until Gabriel asked the question July 31, 2015 at Buffalo Bayou Park. They endured, but strengthened their relationship through three years of long-distance, until 2018 where they both graduated college and at last, were both finally back in Houston.

Gabriel y Selena eran estudiantes de segundo año de la preparatoria cuando se conocieron. Selena se había mudado de otra escuela para unirse a Eastwood Academy en Houston y aunque eran buenos amigos en la preparatoria, no se hicieron pareja hasta llegar a la universidad. Después de graduarse, Gabriel comenzó su primer año en Texas A&M University en College Station y Selena en Georgetown University en Washington, D.C. Después de su primer semestre en la universidad, sus ex maestros de la preparatoria tuvieron un evento de reunión para sus estudiantes donde se reencontraron Gabriel y Selena. Decidieron salir ese 2015 a Dave & Busters y después de un tiempo muy divertido salieron por el resto del verano hasta que Gabriel le hizo la pregunta el 31 de julio de 2015 en Buffalo Bayou Park de ser novios oficialmente. No fue fácil, pero fortalecieron su relación através de tres años de larga distancia mientras estudiaban en la universidad, hasta el 2018, cuando ambos se graduaron de la universidad y finalmente regresaron a estar juntos en Houston.

For their 6th anniversary, Selena and Gabriel decided to take a celebratory trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. They began their special day on July 31st, 2021 by grabbing brunch at Moena Café. Afterwards, they spent several hours relaxing and swimming at Waikiki Beach before getting ready to drive to Ko Olina, Hawaii for a sunset beach picnic. Once they arrived, Gabriel began to explore Secret Beach, looking for the perfect "picnic spot." After settling in their picnic location, Gabriel received a thumbs up from the secret photographer, signaling she was ready to capture the moment. Hoping to move Selena in front of the camera, Gabriel asked her if she wanted to get her feet wet. As she walked towards the water, Gabriel quickly grabbed the ring from his backpack, placed it in his pocket, and followed after her. After a few moments of looking into the horizon, Gabriel turned Selena to face him, began his proposal, got down on one knee, and asked her "Juanita Selena Parra, will you marry me?" With tears running down her face, Selena happily responded "Yes!" Having captured the proposal, the secret photographer ran down towards Selena and Gabriel to photograph the rest of their engagement shoot. After sharing the news with their family and friends, they drove back to Waikiki in time for their dinner reservation to celebrate their engagement!

Para celebrar su sexto aniversario, Selena y Gabriel decidieron hacer un viaje a Honolulu, Hawái. Comenzaron su día especial el 31 de julio de 2021 comiendo en Moena Café. Después, pasaron unas horas relajándose y nadando en la playa de Waikiki antes de prepararse para conducir hasta Ko Olina, Hawái para disfrutar de un picnic en la playa al atardecer. Al llegar, Gabriel comenzó a explorar Secret Beach, en busca del "lugar de picnic" perfecto. Después de escoger el lugar del picnic, Gabriel recibió una señal de la fotógrafa secreta para indicarle qué estaba lista para capturar el momento. Con la esperanza de mover a Selena frente a la cámara, Gabriel le preguntó si quería mojarse los pies. Mientras caminaba hacia el agua, Gabriel tomó rápidamente el anillo de su mochila, lo colocó en su bolsillo y la siguió. Después de unos momentos de mirar hacia la puesta del sol, Gabriel giró a Selena para que lo mirara, comenzó su propuesta, se arrodilló y le preguntó: "Juanita Selena Parra, ¿te casarías conmigo?" Con lágrimas en su rostro, Selena felizmente respondió "¡Sí!" Habiendo capturado la propuesta, la fotógrafa secreta corrió hacia Selena y Gabriel para fotografiar el resto de su sesión de compromiso. Después de compartir la noticia con su familia y amigos, regresaron a Waikiki a tiempo para cenar y celebrar su compromiso.
