Our story

God’s timing is always perfect

We technically first met at the St. Jude Golf Tournament in August 2024. We were both there with separate groups of friends but ended up at the same tent by the end of the day. I (Lauren) remember noticing Andrew and thinking he was cute—but I had heard from a friend he was currently living in New York, so I didn’t think much of it at the time. (Little did I know, he had actually just moved back to Memphis!) After a long, hot day, we briefly met, but I was ready to head home—and that was that… or so I thought. About a month later, I was out with the same group of friends at Brookhaven, sitting on the patio, when out of nowhere it started pouring rain. We all ran inside to grab a table, and as fate would have it, we ended up sitting right next to Andrew and his friends. This time, I quickly learned he actually lived in Memphis—so my interest was very much piqued. We spent the night sitting diagonally across from each other at separate tables, but very obviously making eye contact all night—so naturally, our friends had to step in. My best friend Missy was my ultimate hype girl, encouraging me to talk to him, while Metcalf was doing the same for Andrew. At one point, I got up from the table, and while I was gone, Andrew was asking about me—mainly trying to find out from the table if I was single. We talked a bit that night, but nothing major happened. I’ve always believed that if a guy is interested, he’ll make the move… but I decided to plant a small seed and followed him on Instagram after that night (with no intention of messaging him). About a week or so later, Andrew finally worked up the courage to ask me out—and from our very first date, everything felt effortless. We never stopped talking. We had two dates that first week, and on our third date, things took an unexpected turn. If you know me, you know I have a severe nut allergy—and I accidentally ate a walnut while we were out. Andrew rushed me to the hospital without hesitation and waited in the St. Francis emergency room for hours until he was allowed back to see me. In that moment, I knew he was different and this was going to be something special. A little over a year later, Andrew proposed 🤍
