What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been

The story starts in the fourth grade. While Aaron was a year ahead of Michelle, they ended up having the same teacher. Michelle's first memory of Aaron was hating him, as she wasn't aware of the possibility that teachers could have students that weren't Michelle. To Aaron's credit, he did make duct tape roses for that teacher because she was his favorite. The story picks up at Milford High School, where Michelle played the flute and Aaron played the tuba. Through the three years of high school band that they shared, they also shared the same group of friends, all of whom are still together today. Aaron left for college in Colorado, and Michelle went to South Carolina. Years passed, Aaron moved to Maryland, and Michelle graduated and returned to New Hampshire. When Michelle was invited to a friend's wedding in Tennessee, she planned to ask Aaron to use his place as a halfway point. Little did she know, he had moved back to New Hampshire about a week prior! Too late to back out from asking, they both drove down to Tennessee, then back, over the course of a weekend. If that doesn't cause one to rethink the seriousness of a friendship, who knows what would? The story remains friendly over the next year or so, until Aaron was involved in a motorcycle crash. Upon finding this out, Michelle's first response was "I'd be really sad if he got seriously hurt. Like, more sad than I initially thought." More time spent together led to Aaron asking Michelle on a date at Borracho Taco in Saranac Lake, New York, to which she replied, "no." After more pestering, she finally relented with the caveat "You can take me out, but it's going to be somewhere fancy, and you are paying." The first date was set for the Library restaurant, followed by a romantic drive down the coast of New Hampshire. As we looked over the moonlit ocean, we shared our first kiss. When recounting the story to a friend, Michelle remarked "I don't know about Aaron, there just weren't any fireworks between us." Fun fact, just up the beach from where we had stopped was a literal fireworks show happening. A few more dates led to an official relationship, evolving into shared living in the fall of 2019. Moving in together, Michelle finishing grad school, Aaron starting a Bachelor's degree, and a global pandemic all happened within six months. With the odds stacked against them, they prevailed, through job transitions, degree programs, mental health challenges, and everything else the world had thrown at them. On their fifth anniversary, Aaron had asked Michelle to be his wife, to which she enthusiastically replied, "Yes!" After sharing the announcement with family, the intermingling of lives began. Throughout more job changes, a housing move or two, and the rest of life stepping in, Aaron and Michelle have finally made it to the starting gate of "Happily Ever After!" We are looking forward to spending our special day with you all! Our aim for this day is to embrace and feel embraced by the ones that we love. We can't wait to share it with you all!
