They met on a blue bird spring ski day at A-Basin ski resort, April 2013. With Nate's friend Jeff (who introduced the two) leaving early, Nate decided to ski a couple more runs and get a ride home with Jess and her friend Krista. In the car on the ride home they agreed to meet up later that night at Sancho's - Denver's premiere Grateful Dead bar (where he later proposed!). Jess broke her phone that day - a causality of a makeshift backpack cooler, but Nate still showed up at Sancho's at the agreed upon time. They talked about music, drank some beer and sparred over an infamous match of air hockey. The rest is history. The next day Nate asked Jess out on their first official date. Jess recommended they see Har Mar Superstar at the Hi Dive - a hole in the wall music venue. They walked over together with a fresh layer of May snow on the ground. Something great was brewing. Over the next couple years they attended countless concerts, quit their jobs to travel through Asia, lived out of Nate's 1997 4 Runner, did long distance, started new jobs and bought their first home in Denver. Sometimes they joke that they did everything in the first couple years to break the relationship, but something just stuck. Through everything they continue to push each other to take risks and look forward to the many adventures to come.
