July 30th 2009, Lucas sent Amber a facebook friend request. They hadn't met each other yet, but Lucas was friends with Amber's best friend's brother. They may have seen each other in passing though, as they had been in the same middle school from 2006-2008. Lucas thought Amber was cute from her profile picture, so he sent the request! They started talking and became friends easily. Not a month later, school started and Amber was a freshman, Lucas a sophomore. It may have taken a little, but eventually their groups came together for lunch every day. Lucas started liking Amber pretty quickly, and by the middle of October, Amber knew he liked her. Only a couple small problems though; she liked someone else AND she wasn't allowed to go out with anyone until Sophomore year. The year kept coming, and the two of them hung out a lot. School, football games, youth group, and on the weekends. Amber's grandma saw Lucas so much, whenever he would come over, she would exclaim "you again!". A couple weeks before school started back up at the end of August, Lucas was heading to Yosemite with his parents, and invited Amber to come along. Surprisingly enough, Amber's grandparents let her! She went to Yosemite for the second time, and then they all went to Mammoth. One night, the two of them were watching the movie Leap Year. After it ended, Lucas ended up kissing Amber! There were some kinks to work out before the relationship became official, but after the first week of school, it became official on August 28th 2010!
After almost 3 years together in high school (which included one year of Lucas in college), the relationship came to an end. There wasn't a lack of love on anyones part, but lives were changing and it just wasn't a good time to continue the relationship. Lucas was in Monterey for school, and Amber stayed home for junior college for 3 years before transferring up to Sacramento. They saw each other a few times in the next 6 years. Always saying Happy Birthday, and a few small check ins when something big happened in one of their lives. Fast forward to April 24th, 2019, Amber was randomly looking through her first cell phone that she used from 2009-2011. There were still texts saved on there! There were some from Lucas, so she decided to send a photo of it to Lucas to share the throwback she had found. From there, they started talking again more often, such as snapchatting the games Amber would be playing with friends. Then in May, they hung out again for the first time in years and went bowling. A typical hang out for the two of them! Spending more time together hanging out in the next two months, Lucas asked Amber out on a date. Because of their past, and being comfortable with him, she said yes. A little strange though, as she had never been on a regular date outside of being in a relationship. They went to The Lot in San Ramon for food and a movie, but the theater was unexpectedly closed that day. So they went to go see "Yesterday", the movie about if The Beatles hadn't existed, a different day. That was in July. By August 2nd, they were official again.
