National MallNational Mall

Washington, DC

Spring is a beautiful time in the D.C. area, and our wedding date falls right in the middle of the typical annual peak bloom window for the famous cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin. While peak bloom can never be predicted exactly, guests visiting for the wedding may have the chance to see the trees at or near their most stunning. It’s a classic D.C. experience and happened to be one of Brandon & Tatum’s first dates! Closest Metro: Smithsonian Station Metro from Reston Town Center Station: → 17 stops to Smithsonian Station Metro from Reston Station (Wiehle–Reston East): → 16 stops to Smithsonian Station Peak bloom is one of the busiest times of year in D.C. Both traffic and the Metro can get very crowded, and parking near the Tidal Basin is extremely limited. We recommend giving yourself extra travel time and planning accordingly so you can enjoy the blossoms without stress.

Cherry Blossom FestivalCherry Blossom Festival

The Cherry Blossom Festival is a magical springtime experience in Washington, DC — think dozens of cherry trees in full bloom, strolls around the Tidal Basin, beautiful photo ops with petals floating down, and a lively mix of events, parades, and lighthearted spring vibes. It’s one of our favorite seasonal adventures: perfect for a romantic (or friend-) outing, a daytime walk with great views, or just taking in the blossoms and city energy.
