August of 2017 we both moved back into school at Franklin University, we first met when we were locked out of the Residential Life building trying to get our keys to move into our rooms. We met again officially later that night when we were invited to hang out with mutual friends. From that first day back at school we became friends and began spending time together in groups and eventually one on one. Our first date was a walk to Pearly Pond for fishing and reading. Fishing and reading dates have since become common in our relationship.
After months of getting to know each other and going on dates, we officially started dating. We both finished our time at Franklin Pierce, and found it challenging with Kait living in New Hampshire, and Joe in Massachusetts, but we eventually found an apartment together in Nashua in 2021.
We took our first vacation just the two of us to Bar Harbor, Maine, where we spent the week hiking in Acadia National Park. We hiked the Great Head Trail along the coast, drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain to see the sun rise, and walked along Sands Beach and around Jordan Pond. Our favorite spot there was Little Hunter's Beach, which has been called the "musical beach" because it has pebbles instead of sand that make noises when the tide goes out. On the last day of our trip we went to an overlook looking down at the beach and the coast, and that's where Joe got down on one knee!
We started planning for our wedding shortly after we got engaged, and we started weighing the options of having a big wedding or buying a house. It wasn't an easy choice, and as much as we wish we could have all of our loved ones with us, we decided to move forward with house hunting. In April we found the most perfect house with the cutest kitchen and most beautiful (and well lived-in) wood floors. We made our offer and submitted a letter to the family selling it and crossed our fingers and toes. On April 9, 2024, we closed and we have been loving our home ever since.
