It was a dark and stormy night. We met at sea. We sailed to America on a giant rubber ducky that we made from shoes. He was determined, incredibly handsome, and hard to resist. I think he was drawn by the buoyancy of my... spirit. 😉

One of our favorite early date places was a comedy club in the East Village. Whether the sets we watched were uproarious or just repeats from stand ups trying to find their footing, he would always make my life happy afterwards with a stop at my obsession, Pommes Frites. 7 years later, we revisited this, on a double date. He set the stage in exceptionally romantic fashion... not knowing the original Comedy spot had moved to Brooklyn, or that the original Pommes Frites had burned down. After a sub~par show, and a lot of complaining, we took a trek across ALL of Manhattan, to the renovated Pommes Frites in its new location on MacDougal. When I emerged, with cravings happily satisfied, covered in cheese sauce, he made his move. He proposed in the heart of my favorite part of the world, complete with a sparkler accompaniment, amongst the cheers of his best friend, and the usual surplus of NYC strangers. 🥰
