In true form to our typical Oak Island weekend, we recommend staking your spot on the beach between SE 40-43rd. When you get hungry, you can walk over to the Pepperoni Grill and bring a pizza onto the beach. If pizza is not your style, stop by Publix and grab a pub-sub to go for the beach. There is plenty of street parking. Make sure to follow the instructions to pay; they do check. NOTE: Drinking is permitted on the beach; GLASS is NOT cans only.
If you are looking for a quick bite, the pizza and lasagna here is something else. The inside has since closed post covid, so call ahead for a timely pickup and enjoy your pizza on the beach. Or call ahead on your drive down Friday and pick it up as you check into your stay.
This is one of our favorite places on the Island. If you get into town with a few hours to spare on Friday ahead of the welcome party, it is worth stopping by! Every Friday, they have live music and a free wine tasting. They have even more wines and beer on tap inside.
This coffee and wine shop is new on the island but has quickly become a favorite. The view of the marsh on the two-story back porch is breathtaking and peaceful. Get a coffee, shop around, and spend a minute outside to admire the view. Check their Facebook page for live music times.
The food here honestly speaks for itself, and don't get me started on their desserts. If you are looking for a nicer meal or somewhere that takes reservations, this is your place 10/10 recommend. However, we have had good luck getting a table as a walk-in.
This breakfast and lunch place in Southport is worth the wait. Put your name on the list and walk around Southport. The menu consists of unique fusion dishes that will knock your socks off. The coffee menu is like no other. With it not being peak beach season, you may get lucky and get seated right away!
The LOBSTER BISQUE need I say more. We often stop by for breakfast on Sundays before we head home. We even get a bowl of bisque for the road. If it is a nice day, the patio seating is right on the water with an incredible view and a nice breeze. If you sit inside, the large windows give you the same great view with the added bonus of air conditioning. The cocktails and charcuterie are also worth the stop.
The town of Southport is full of restored old houses and cute little shops. My favorite is Lantana's. The waterfront park near Oliver is a peaceful stop that overlooks the ocean. Stop in the Silver Cost Winery for a quick wine and olive oil tasting or the Christmas house. There are also a handful of antique shops and boutiques to get a feel for life in Southport.
Built in 1962 by world-renowned architect George Cobb, Oak Island Golf Club meanders through Oak Island and Caswell Beach. This Oceanside course offers golfers many of Mother Nature’s most beautiful amenities; waterfowl, ocean dwelling birds, alligators, and all kinds of maritime plants and trees. The course, which features Bermuda grass greens, tees, fairways and roughs, 37 bunkers and water in play on nine different holes presents a true golfing test to the most avid golfers. Wind, our golfers most formidable challenge is almost always present, as evident by the wind shaped Live Oaks and Yaupon trees throughout the course. A full practice facility complete with sand traps, putting green and driving range is available to help fine tune your game. CALL FOR TEE TIMES

It was founded in 2007 to provide medical treatment for wild birds that are injured, sick, or orphaned. Since then, thousands of wild birds have been returned to their natural habitats, and thousands of people have been educated about the needs of these amazing animals.
