In late 2015, Leslie joined an automotive enthusiast-focused forum called OppositeLock. After losing interest in the forum she turned to their socially active facebook group, OppositeTalk. It was in this group that she and Chris met for the first time online. Eventually they both got added to a group chat which enabled Chris and Leslie to communicate more directly for the first time. Over the next couple of years their friendship blossomed and in May 2018 they met in person for the first time at the 1,000 member celebration for a group that Chris founded, Manual Elitist Jerks - which now has over 30,000 members from all over the world. The chemistry between the two was undeniable and about 5 months later, they were dating. At the beginning of their relationship, they were long distance. Leslie still lived in her home town of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Chris in North Dallas, Texas. After a couple months of 8 hour drives and $300 flights every other weekend, the couple got tired of the distance. Chris asked Leslie to permanently relocate to Dallas and she finished the move in January 2019 In the coming years, the two moved to a quaint home in Plano with their cat, Athena, and later welcomed their Great Pyrenees, Charlie and kitten, Henri. In July 2021, Chris proposed to Leslie at an elevation of 12,104 ft at Upper Mohawk Lake in Breckenridge, Colorado while on a trip with his family. She loves saying she knew it was coming. In fact, after the initial shock wore off, the first thing she said was "I knew it!"
