Grant and Morgan both attended Western Kentucky University. During the Fall 2019 semester, Morgan's roommates drug her out to a party nearly against her will. Her roommates were attempting to boost her mood after not scoring well on a nursing exam. The group of girls decided to go to their upcoming homecoming pairing's house party; they didn't usually hang out with this crowd but felt it would be important to scope out future prospects for the long week of homecoming ahead. It turns out that Grant had his eyes on Morgan for many years prior. Grant swam on St. Xavier's swim team with Morgan's little brother, Josh. Grant inquired about Morgan through Josh several times, but ultimately never introduced himself in high school because he was a year younger than Morgan. Grant was aware that Morgan also attended WKU, and told himself that if he ever bumped into her on campus he would introduce himself. Grant did just that when he saw Morgan and her friends walking up the steps of the back porch of his friend's house. Morgan being overwhelmed by the crowd on the porch quickly brushed past Grant as he tried to say hello and call out her name. The party inside was not very lively, so the girls quickly decided to leave. Morgan's mind was racing because she could not place how the guy on the porch would know her by name. On their way out, Morgan decided to stop and apologize to Grant for quickly brushing past him when they arrived, as she did not want to get separated from her friend group. Grant admitted he had been waiting to introduce himself for years now. Grant decided to join Morgan at the local bar where they chatted all night, and the rest was history.
