A classic New England Fall thing, we honestly can admire the beauty by just taking a walk to our local grocery store. Go take a walk around Downtown, or to a local coffee shop and back, or to Roger Williams Park, and take in the gorgeous autumn leaves and flowers!
Just about every other weekend, the city of Providence puts on an evening/night festival called WaterFire, where people light lanterns and float them down the river. There are also food tents, sweets, vendors, and a bunch of other cool stuff. More information, photos, and their yearly schedule is at the link below.
You can't throw a stone in New England without hitting a coffee shop. Take the time to try a new spot while you're here. P.S. Our favorite spot is Seven Stars Bakery in Providence, or Felicia's Coffee in East Greenwich.
If you're here for a little longer, the beaches of Rhode Island really are beautiful. It may be a little too chilly in October to get in the water, but even just walking the coastline or driving along nearby is lovely. Plus, since its about an hour by car to get to Newport, you can take the time to admire the fall forest colors, too!
The Eddy is one of the most popular cocktail bars in Providence, and a favorite among Morgan's coworkers.
There are tons of Irish pubs around Providence, but this is our favorite!
Rhode Island is known for their seafood, both raw and cooked. Most popular are quahogs (clams), oysters, calamari, and lobster. The most famous spot for local seafood is Matanuck Oyster Bar, which requires reservations; but any seafood spot you choose is bound to be fresh and delicious!
The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is one of the world's most prestigious art schools, and their museum is one of the crown jewels of Providence. See over 100,000 pieces in their collection, from ancient times all the way to present works.
