How We Met

There are two different versions of this story.

MORGAN At a church retreat in high school, I saw Stephen and thought he was cute. For some reason, I was convinced he was "a senior" (oh gosh!) 'cause he looked older (he's actually 6 months younger than me). At some point during the retreat, we were in a group and said hi and introduced ourselves. And I specifically recall Stephen saying, "I'll have to remember that!" when I said my name. He apparently did not haha... STEPHEN MY recollection of our first meeting was when a mutual friend formally known as Rose Thompson brought Morgan to a friendly soccer match between some of us youth group friends. I thought Morgan was cute so I decided to show off a little and decimated all my friends in this game, sealing Morgan's hots for me when I took off my shirt showing my glorious, 17 year-old, always tan?... body. She melted. We then all went off to help with the 7th-8th grade youth group and one thing led to the next and I'm just glad shes put up with me so far and for the rest of our lives. <3

The Proposal

12.2.2017

MORGAN This was the first park day of our 2017 Christmas trip and the first time going to the parks as annual passholders! I had my trusty park backpack for all my things (phone charger, lip balm, water bottle, etc.) and Stephen was eager to carry the backpack on the way to the car, and anytime I needed anything, he was happy to get it out for me (SUSPICIOUS). This territorial behavior continued for a little bit that morning. Keep in mind.. the month before, Stephen asked me my ring size via text DURING a conversation about our Disney trip. I was on high alert. We were meeting Megan (Maid of Honor) and Kelsey at Epcot that morning for a FULL day of holiday adventures. All of a sudden, I was allowed to go through the backpack after we rode Soarin'... now I was kinda disappointed. Fast forward like 12 HOURS (yes, 12) after the special holiday Illuminations fireworks (the best..RIP) ended. We slowly made our way around the World Showcase (to let the crowds thin out) and then strategically stopped at the UK pavilion "to take a photo". And that was when Stephen used very few words (out of nervousness and TRUE love) to ask me to marry him. And here we are! STEPHEN This was my first trip to Disney World during the Christmas season and as new annual passholders. I decided that proposing on the first day would be the best for a few reasons: one, we were going to Epcot and I know Morgan loved the UK gardens; two, I knew Morgan would want pictures with the ring in multiple parks; three, I wanted to get that thing out of my possession so it didn't burn a hole in my pocket. So I enlisted Morgan's best friend Megan to help hide the ring over the course of the day! I was sly in deciding to hold our backpack all day to be "helpful", but the ring was hidden in there (in a huge white box). SLY! Megan and I made the trade off with the ring after we road Soarin'. Again SLY! Made the trade back at the end of the day, post fireworks and proposed to Morgan in her favorite spot.
