Scotty and Morgan’s story actually goes all the way back to their days at Stanislaus Union Elementary School. Even though they were at the same school, Scotty was two grades ahead, and they didn't really know each other back then. Their families were already connected, though. Scotty was friends with Morgan’s older sister, Madison, and Scotty's older sister Shannon was close friends with Madison, too. Fast forward several years: both Scotty and Morgan had graduated college and moved away from their hometown of Modesto. During Christmas time in 2023, they both happened to be back in town visiting family. Their sisters had a hunch they might be a good match and decided to set up a game night to see if they’d hit it off. As it turns out, their sisters were right! They went on a date to Yogurt Mill shortly after and spent the next few days spending as much time together as possible before they had to head back to their jobs in different states. Even though they lived far apart—Morgan in Mississippi and Scotty in South Carolina—they knew they had something special. They talked and texted every single day, and Morgan even flew out to Charlotte to visit Scotty just a few weeks later. As they got to know each other, they prayerfully considered the Lord's will for their relationship. Soon thereafter, during a trip to Jackson, Mississippi, they decided to make things official and pursue each other in a dating relationship. They spent the next several months continuing to learn about each other as they dated long-distance, flying to see each other every month. Eventually, they both moved back home to Modesto for work, and being back in their hometown together is where their relationship really grew. Some of their favorite memories during this time include attending weddings together, date nights at their favorite restaurants, and taking day trips to San Francisco and the beach. Through all of these adventures and everyday moments in between, their love for each other grew, and they began to talk about marriage. Knowing this was one of the biggest decisions they would ever make, they sought the Lord's wisdom through prayer and wise counsel. They felt called by the Lord to take this next step together, and Scotty proposed on July 19th, 2025 at Rio Del Mar Beach. Now, they are once again living in different states, as Scotty moved to Tennessee in August to start a new business with his family. Morgan is finishing up her graduate degree and teaching Theatre and Dance at Central Catholic High School in Modesto. Once they get married, Morgan will move to Tennessee so they can start their new life together as a married couple. They cannot wait to celebrate their marriage with friends and family this summer.
