Nick Hoffman

and

Morgan Friedman

September 16, 2023

Philadelphia, PA

Our Story

Nick grew up in lower Bucks County, PA, ten minutes outside the Philadelphia city line. He moved into the city for college and never looked back. Morgan was raised in Buffalo, NY and moved to Philly after college to work at a soup kitchen in Kensington, a long standing restaurant style soup kitchen serving a struggling but resilient neighborhood. Right down the street from the kitchen was a little watering hole called Atlantis: The Lost Bar. Morgan and her new roommate (and future bridesmaid), Kaitlin, were both new to the city and needed to figure out how to make friends as “adults.” What better place to do that than a bar called “Lost”? The two young women became fast friends with Frankie, the beloved bartender, who introduced them to a rotating cast of fascinating regulars and longtime neighborhood denizens. Little did they know, one day soon, Frankie would steer them toward one particularly tight-knit group of friends who frequented Lost, and their lives would change forever. Enter: Nick and his crew. Nick volunteered to help out at the soup kitchen anytime it was short staffed and Morgan found herself hoping they would be short on volunteers so she had a reason to ask Nick to come help! Little did Morgan know, Nick was also hoping the soup kitchen needed volunteers so that he could see Morgan. Morgan and Nick started spending more and more time together and by November 15th they were officially dating. Soon enough, Morgan was getting to know Nick’s family in Bucks where they made her feel right at home. It was there that Morgan discovered Nick was an amazing and amusing combination of both his parents’ personalities. Nick, in turn, began making the 6.5-hour trek to Buffalo to spend time with Morgan’s family, where he slowly began wrapping his head around her complicated family tree. When Covid hit, Kensington’s hottest new couple hunkered down together during the lockdown, and quickly determined it was time to move in together. They knew if they could endure months and months of quarantining together, they probably had something special. Morgan moved into Nick’s rowhouse in Kensington, about a mile north of the bar where they first met and the soup kitchen that brought their worlds together. Nick and Morgan quickly discovered how to navigate the quirks that came with living together, and found that nothing made them happier than ending each day cuddled up on the couch together. Two years later Nick and Morgan started talking about getting engaged and they went to pick out the ring together. Morgan still wanted some element of surprise though, and wanted Nick to surprise her by the way he asked her. She then waited and waited— eagerly and, as her friends recall, not so patiently — for Nick to pop the question. In October of 2021 Morgan’s sister Taylor, and her boyfriend (also named Nick) planned a trip to the Finger Lakes and asked Nick and Morgan to join them. Nick thought that Morgan and Tayor were colluding to get Nick to propose, but the plan was all Taylor and her Nick’s! Morgan continued to pester Nick to propose and Nick made it very clear he would not be proposing in the Finger Lakes because Morgan would not shut up about it! Halfway through the day Nick, Morgan, Taylor, and Taylor’s Nick were enjoying a bottle of wine on a beautiful dock on Seneca Lake when Nick shocked Morgan by getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him! When Nick and Morgan got home to Philly they were surprised by an engagement party with all their best friends at the bar where it all began, Lost Bar! After almost 5 years together they are so excited for you to join them as they say “I do” and party the night away!
