Nick and Morgan were introduced by a mutual friend in college while living in the same housing complex. A great friendship was built upon longboarding, taste in music, and hiking the ravines at Grand Valley. After college, Morgan and Nick lived on opposite ends of the state, occasionally meeting up again at the infamous Petting Zoo house shows with the college crew throughout the years.
Fast forward to 2019. Morgan rescued an adorable dog, Jobie, and sent a picture to Nick. They began to reconnect thanks to Jojo, their little cupid. It didn't take long for Cupid's arrow to strike as Nick worked up the courage to ask Morgan on a date. They chose to go see one of Morgan's favorite bands, Vundabar, at the Delux Flux in Detroit. They had such a wonderful time they decided to do it again and they went to a Griffins Hockey game at Van Andel in Grand Rapids. They quickly realized they had found something special!
After nearly two years of long-distance, Nick ended up moving to Grand Rapids, despite a 2-hour commute to work each day. That didn't matter though, as it meant late-night chess games, dancing in the kitchen, competitive ping-pong matches, hot tub soaks, and frisbee with Jojo. They enjoyed living together with some of their closest friends, and since much of society was shut down, it was all the more important to be surrounded by people that made them happy. However, it didn't take long for the boredom to set in, so they had to get creative with their time! This would lead to the brilliant idea of an "At Home Bar-Crawl." Each room of the house had a designated theme and drink of choice. The Brooklane house in Grand Rapids will always be special for the memories created and the people they shared them with!
One sunny day in July of 2022, Nick and Morgan made a day trip to Lake Michigan. They took a long hike through the woods until they reached the beach. Having been here many times, they found their usual spot overlooking the lake on top of the Saugatuck dunes. Morgan proceeded to set out the blanket for the picnic set, while Nick was getting the hammock set up. After a quick run down the dunes to the water, they made their way back for lunch. Little did Morgan know that this was the moment Nick was waiting for. Morgan turned around and found Nick down on one knee... They could not be more excited to take this next step and make a commitment to continue building their lives together. They spent the rest of the day enjoying their delicious picnic, plunging into the chilly lake, playing frisbee, and relaxing in the hammock.
For the last few months of 2022, Morgan and Nick were split between Grand Rapids and West Bloomfield as they were getting their house ready to sell and start new jobs. Once the GR house sold, they started looking for their next home on the east side of the state. After a very long day of showings, they found the perfect house to begin their new life together in. They were finally home!
